All good things deserve to be sustainable

Germany – France – Turkey

The project

With the slogan “All good things deserve to be sustainable”, we would like to exchange with a group of French, German and Turkish young participants around the question of our planet’s ecological limits. Through different workshops and methods, we will analyse how our system exploits men and nature and we will show successful examples of a way of life that goes beyond competitiveness and consumption culture.

Through this project, we would like to propose to the participants to work on their habits of consumption that were socially constructed and induced by the capitalist system in which we live in. Therefore, these habits can be questioned, deconstructed, and become more conscious and ecological.

This project aims at raising awareness among young people on subjects such as the use of natural ressources or the functioning of supply chains. We want to inform about their impact on nature, but also collect the participants’ propositions to adapt our consumer behavior to the current ecological crisis.

We also want to offer to young people coming from France, Germany and Turkey the possibility to discuss together the concepts of sustainable growth and sustainable consumption. It seems important to us to organize such a project regarding the actual circumstances because social and ecological awareness implies new habits. Thanks to sharing experiences and reflexions around ecology activism, we wish to encourage young people’s participation in a more sustainable future.

We will base the program on different pedagogical, linguistic and intercultural methods of non-formal education. The activities will offer a space for dialogue so that each young person can express themselves, exchange and think with the participants from the other countries.

We would like this online exchange to become a physical exchange project when it will be possible to travel again. We are therefore planning physical meeting phases in France, Germany and Turkey in 2021 with the same groups we will have worked with online.

When and where

Phase I:Online – on the 28th and 29th of November and on the 12th of December 2020

Digital format

We decided to organize this meeting in digital format to allow our work of interculturality and youth to keep going on. We are adapting to the restrictions of global mobility but also to democratize the digital tools and maintain the international dialogue between young people.

The program is planned on 3 days:

The first 2 days are consecutive (November 28 and 29, 2020) and the 3rd day of online meeting will take place two weeks later (December 12, 2020).

Participants

This exchange is for young adults (18-25 years old) who have little or no experience in environmental activism, so that we can form a mixed group and influence and question each other. It is important to be interested in ecology, sustainable development and the fight against climate change.

As interpreters will be present during the project meetings, no prior language knowledge is required.
