Together for peace

Germany – France – Russia

The project

Because of its history, Europe has not always been a trading area as we experience in 2018. Today, more than ever, it is essential that countries with a shared conflicting past work together to secure a peaceful future. But Europe is not reduced to these economic and social borders; it is a symbol of peace. A peace that cannot exist without the cooperation and recognition of the countries around us. This Franco-German-Russian exchange project aims to promote youth mobility and to deepen Franco-German-Russian relations by presenting young people with different possibilities and perspectives for the future.

Long a hostile territory inundated by ideological wars, Europe has become a place of exchange and communication. Europe is not limited to the Member States of the European Union, it also represents cultures and traditions that have exchanged and been closely intertwined for generations. We want young people to reflect on the history of their country.

  • How do historical events influence us?
  • How do we perceive others?
  • How can dialogue and understanding between these three civil societies be restored after this difficult and conflict-laden past?

Through the discovery of different countries on the European continent and the exchange with other young citizens, we will raise the awareness of the participants on different levels: by discovering the cultural diversity and similarities of their respective countries, by becoming aware of their own situation in society, and by discovering themselves and others.

We believe that this topic area could be approached through the participants’ own life experiences. We believe that it is important to bring these young people together so that they can restore the trust they have lost in themselves and others. How can we learn from this troubled past and work together with young people to learn the necessary lessons for the construction of a common future?

The participants

We target young people between 15 and 17 years old living in Germany, France and Russia. For each participating partner country 8 young people are being chosen. These can be different profiles in order to combine different competences necessary for the realisation of the project within the group. It is also important for us to have cultural and social diversity within each national group.
